I hope you had an amazing day with your family. Mother’s Day always makes me stop and think about what kind of a mother I want to be and how lucky I really am to be a mother. There was a time when I wondered if I would ever get the chance to be a mom, and now look at these two crazy kids of mine.
I ran across a great blog post about being a mother on c jane that I really enjoyed. I spend a lot of time worrying about protecting my girls from all the scary things out there that can happen, but maybe I should spend more time making sure that the home they live in is a happy one. If a child knows that they have a safe and happy place to come when things are not going their way, that there will always be people there to pick them up and steer them in the right direction, I think that is a pretty good gift to give a child.

I love Kaboose for great kid craft ideas for every occasion. They have lots of fun Cinco de Mayo activities today. I thought this mini sombrero was really fun! See them all here and pick your favorite.
Happy Cinco de Mayo!

I am a sucker for a cute face. I buy Christmas ornaments on a cute face alone! Who am I kidding? I will buy just about anything with a cute face. I love a book with a cute face and this one has one for sure. This is a cute book with a cute face about a Penguin and a cupcake. It is written by Ashley Spires and can be found here for only $15.95.

When we sit at dinner or ride in the car my oldest daughter likes me to ask everyone a question. “What 5 people would you like to have dinner with?” “If you could go to vacation anywhere in the world where would it be?” “If you were a super hero what would your power be?”
I have always thought I would like to fly, but lately I have decided I want to control time just like Hiro Nakamura. He can stop time or travel back and forth in time… all with the blink of an eye. Now I know we are supposed to say we would never change anything because it makes us the people we are today, but I think I would change a few things. Nothing major, but sometimes wouldn’t you like to go back and stop eating that cheeseburger half way through… maybe go to bed at 11:00 pm and not 1:30 am… not spend $90 on that really uncomfortable pair of shoes. I know if I could go back in time a few hours I would have eaten something other that McDonald’s french fries for dinner.
So, maybe I will never teleport to the future or stop time long enough that I can think of the perfect comeback, but I think it sounds like a lot more fun than flying! What super power would you choose?
Here’s to a new month, may it be filled with only moments you would like to relive, not do over. Happy May Day!

Every morning as I run around the house frantically yelling at everyone to hurry up or we will be LATE LATE LATE I think that tomorrow I am going to be more organized. Of course, tomorrow is usually as big a mess as today, but now I have found a great way to help. Living Locurto has tons of free downloads, but one of my favorites are these Days of the Week Tabs. Print them off, laminate them and hang them on your hangers so everyone knows what they are supposed to wear the next day. I think I will make a copy for everyone in the family. Here’s to getting out the door calmly!

This has got to be the cutest thing I have ever seen. It reminds me of my two little girls when they are in their we are so happy to be sisters mood…. we won’t talk about the step back before our heads spin mood.
You can find this fabulous print and many more amazing items in dazeychic’s etsy shop.

Hopefully we are all still thinking “green” after Earth Day. I am always looking for a new way to Reduce, Reuse & Recycle. Joining your local Freecycle group is a great way to get rid of items you no longer need or pick up items you are looking for in an environmentally friendly way.
How can you argue with a mission like this… “Our mission is to build a worldwide gifting movement that reduces waste, saves precious resources & eases the burden on our landfills while enabling our members to benefit from the strength of a larger community.”
Whether you are looking to get rid of of a few things or in need of something, Freecycle is the place to start!

I must admit that May 1st comes and goes every year and I wish I had taken the day to make May Baskets. I think my girls would love it, but I normally think of it at the last minute. This year my friend Dana mentioned the baskets on Facebook and got me thinking about them in time to do something about it. Thanks Dana!
I came across a great idea at Skip To My Lou - making the baskets with recycled materials. What could be better than that? Now I am off to find some tin cans!
